Tasha is an art lover who now owns a store where she sells art and souvenirs in the small AZ town of Bisbee. She goes to sell her art at seller shows throughout the states periodically where she is unknowingly transporting and selling cocaine in some of her art. This is where Special Agent Brooks Allen enters the scene. He is tasked with investigating Tasha. But in doing so he must keep his best friend, family to Tasha, out of the loop.
This isn't the first time Tasha and Brooks have met. But this is the first time they have been able to spend any time together. What can danger, physical attraction, and drugs combined create? One hell of a story!
As in all of her contemporary romances set in southeast AZ, Miss McCray describes the area with flourish. Her descriptions help the reader to create an accurate, detailed picture of where the story takes place. And since I am from Southeastern AZ and have been to the places she describes, I can tell you she is dead on with the descriptions and the beauty.
I love how Miss McCray took this story to different settings. She sets up the romantic heat almost from the beginning, but doesn't climax there (please forgive the unintended pun). The reader is never left hanging looking for the story to pick up. There is always something going on that keeps the reader wanting to read just one more page and then realizing it's either way too late in the night or they have read half the book.
Let's talk a little about Brooks. He is a drool-worthy, hot, sexy, strong, "I'd do him" lawman. Brooks is the type of cop most women want to protect them. He is honest, sincere, caring, loyal, and an orgasm in a cowboy hat!
I honestly can't say there was anything in this book that I did not like. I read this late into the night and started up again as soon as I got up the next day.

Miss McCray delivers again! She knows the pulse of her readers and will go the extra mile to make sure she gives us what we love and want to read.
This is another MUST READ!!

My review: 
Angie Sandro has done it again! She has brought the bayous of Louisiana into our homes. She has brought magic to our lives. Enriching us with a way of life that is mostly passed down to scare kids into doing what they are told. She introduced us to Dena in Dark Redemption. But now we are pulled into her life feet first.
What is it like to be pulled from death's clutches? How is a person supposed to cope when things start going all hinky? But most of all, what is a girl to do when she is torn between a sexy detective with whom she has a strange connection, and a dark cloud that has connected itself to her emotionally?
Dena is a strong-willed young lady who has no clue about how her cousin brought her back from the dead. She is trying to help prevent people from dying while Detective Ackers is trying to prevent her from being killed.
Miss Sandro keeps the action going full tilt throughout the book. There is never a dull moment. She weaves intrigue, suspense, Hoo-Doo, zombies, and ties it all in with her previous novels. We get to see Mala back as well as learning all about Dena.
This is a book that you will NOT be able to put down. Make sure you have everything you need at your side, the kids are at grandma's, and the hubby is out with the guys because you will want to read this in one sitting.
You see, Miss Sandro weaves a little magic into her stories. She casts a spell that you can't break. But that's okay, you won't want to break that spell. But you will be left begging for more!!

How do I explain this book? For me, I can't do it without getting a little political. That being said, I am not one to push my beliefs on anyone. I will only say just enough to explain how I see the book.

The premise is one that we are actually beginning to see play out in our own politics here in the US. We are beginning to see a government telling us what is best for us, what we should and will start feeding our own children, We are being told who we can and can not sell to as business owners. For me, it hit me in the middle of my chest and deep in my intellectual mind.
Miss Lawson has created a society where the government is already controlling every aspect of the populace's lives. While some may consider that utopia, after all, the majority of the populace is on equal footing. They get the same amount of food. They are able to buy clothing at all the same stores, their food is sent directly to their homes, and terrorist attacks are controlled by the government not allowing public gatherings like concerts and sporting events. Everything is watched on television. But wait, it is actually starting to sound like a dystopian world in reality. Sometimes things look great on paper and in reality turn out to be a real nightmare.
Well, that is what Miss Lawson's story is all about. It's about a world where the government tells you what is best for you. A world where the power has totally corrupted the uppermost echelon. Of course there is a resistance. But it is really about two "sheep" who have realized they are being led to the slaughter and begin their journey to help bring this corruption down.
But Miss Lawson's story is a subtle inch worm working you through each page. You don't realize how much you really want to know what happens next until you realize it is two o'clock in the morning and you need to get up early the next day.
Careen and Tommy are two very different characters who begin to learn how to trust not only each other, but themselves for the first time. While they are learning about the true plans of the government, they are actually learning how to think for themselves. Miss Lawson is so adept at writing, that as I read I found myself becoming Careen and Tommy. I felt the wonder of learning that I could think for myself, the fear that I would actually be caught and killed for thinking for myself, but also the wonder of seeing everything new again. The simple act of processing what is going on around me and deciding on my own how to deal with it all was all brand new through Careen and Tommy's points of view.
I am anxious to see what Miss Lawson has in store for Tommy and Careen in the next book, Resist, due out in a little over 3 weeks.
